Their Food Story: Gateway Greening is a St. Louis-based nonprofit that educates and empowers people to strengthen their communities through gardening and urban agriculture. GGI’s Garden Program partners with more than 230 community and youth gardens eligible to receive garden services such as planning and development support, infrastructure and supplies, free or low-cost plant material and ongoing garden-based education and networking opportunities.
A Person Behind the Project: Hannah Reinhart is GGI’s Garden Program Director. In this role, she works to support developing and established community and youth garden projects throughout St. Louis City and County with a team of garden program staff. Garden groups approach GGI with a number of unique project goals, such as creating access to affordable produce in areas with limited fresh food options, building a platform for community interactions and activity, or introducing urban youth to the wonders of the natural world. 
Hannah’s work supports these goals by providing initial community garden planning assistance along with ongoing support through the facilitation of GGI’s community garden resource center, Bell Community and Demonstration Garden, and the coordination of key education and networking events, such as the Pints ‘n’ Plants speaker series and an annual Community Garden Summit.
