Congratulations to the winners of our Student Environmental Action Awards! We are so pleased to announce the winners and share the details of their projects:
First place goes to Luke Towson for his work to restore an abandoned greenhouse at his school, Parkway North High School, and to find ways to include other community organizations to support the effort, utilize the greenhouse, and educate students about sustainable food production.
Second place goes to Sophia Huang for her work to implement a recycling education program that has reduced contamination of recyclables in her school, Metro Classical High School, and to share her findings with other schools to implement the same program in their buildings.
Honorable Mention goes to Madeline Brand, for her work to develop a study to measure the effects that water contaminated with PFAS has on different aquatic animals and for sharing her results with over 300 students at her school (St. Joseph’s Academy) and at a national conference.
Congrats to all, and many thanks to everyone who sent in a nomination!
