The 2018 Farm Bill became law in December, and now the hard work of implementing and appropriating its programs remains. In January 2019, MCE’s Food and Farm Director Melissa Vatterott, Water Policy Director Maisah Khan, and Local Food Coordinator Rae Miller attended the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC) Winter Meeting in Washington, DC to learn more about Farm Bill implementation. Melissa, Rae, and Maisah also spoke to our Congresspeople about the importance of Farm Bill programs for Missouri farmers and our local food system.
As a follow-up to the meetings in DC, MCE sent Senator Josh Hawley an introductory letter to outline our priorities in sustainable agriculture, food systems, and Farm Bill programs. Read MCE’s letter to Senator Hawley here.
