Working Together for Healthier Communities Across Missouri

The Missouri Coalition for the Environment (MCE) works to protect clean air, clean water, and healthy communities across our state. We recognize that environmental issues are deeply connected to public health, faith, justice, education, and community well-being—and that many organizations address these issues as part of a broader mission.

Community Partners are nonprofits, faith communities, civic groups, and mission-driven organizations that choose to formally partner with MCE through our Community Partner Membership program.

This program is designed to be inclusive, flexible, and accessible, especially for organizations whose primary focus may not be environmental advocacy, but whose work is affected by environmental conditions.

What Does It Mean to Be a Community Partner?

Community Partners join a statewide network of organizations working at the intersection of environment, health, faith, and community well-being. Partners stay informed, connected, and supported—without being asked to change their mission or take on advocacy work that doesn’t align with their values.

Community Partners may include:

  • Nonprofit organizations
  • Faith-based organizations and congregations
  • Health and public health organizations
  • Community groups and coalitions
  • Civic and service organizations

What This Program Is — and Is Not

This program IS:

  • A way to stay connected to environmental issues that affect your community
  • A network for shared learning and collaboration
  • An opportunity to amplify cross-sector connections statewide
  • A values-aligned partnership grounded in respect and mutual support

This program IS NOT:

  • A requirement to lobby or engage in political advocacy
  • An endorsement of specific policy positions
  • A demand on your organization’s time or resources
  • A shift away from your core mission

Participation is voluntary, and engagement levels are flexible.
