Any business/corporate donor must sign the Missouri Environmental Pledge and the business/corporate donor and MCE must agree in a Memorandum of Understanding to the following terms and conditions:
The MCE and the business/corporate donor share the mutual understanding that our Earth faces urgent environmental problems that necessitate all people and institutions working together to develop and implement solutions;
The contribution in no way (a) implies approval by the MCE of the business/corporate donor’s environmental record or policies, nor (b) limits the MCE’s right to advocate positions, or take action of any nature relating to such record or policies or to any environmental issue; and
The contribution in no way (a) implies approval by the business/corporate donor of the MCE’s environmental record or policies, nor (b) limits the business/corporate donor’s right to advocate positions or take action of any nature relating to such record or policies or to any environmental issue.
Gifts from business/corporate donors will not be accepted from: recognized major polluters; consistent violators of environmental laws; major producers/vendors of products that are unusually damaging to the environment (e.g., CFCs); major antagonists of environmental organizations; or from donors that cause negative environmental and social impact to disadvantaged or impoverished communities.
The MCE will recognize business/corporate financial support in products resulting from a particular grant and in its annual report. The business/corporate donor may request that such acknowledgement be omitted. The business/corporate donor of such gifts, at its option, may report them in its annual financial statement; and any further public announcement, either orally or in writing, by either the MCE or the business/corporate donor, shall be made only after the text of such announcement is approved by both the business/corporate donor and the MCE.
