Founders' Circle

Make MCE part of your estate planning to ensure your legacy reflects your values and that your impact is long-lasting. Members of the Founders' Circle have designated Missouri Coalition for the Environment as a beneficiary in their legacy giving. In the same visionary spirit as our founders, including Leo and Kay Drey, Lewis Green, and Barry Commoner, these members are looking to the future, investing in our natural resources, and safeguarding them for future generations. If you have designated a legacy gift to MCE please let us know so that we may include you in the Founders' Circle. As a member you receive invitations to special events and tailored updates that match your personal interests and concerns.

Our Funding Story

Since our founding in 1969, MCE has continued to be Missouri’s independent, citizens’ environmental organization for clean water, clean air, clean energy, and a healthy environment. We need the support of donors across the state to make our work possible.

Nearly half of our revenue comes from major donors, and we receive one quarter of our funding from winning grant awards. Because grant money can be specific in terms of how we spend the funds, having a healthy amount of income generated by individual donations allows us to be responsive to emerging needs and issues.

We also received $20,000 in legacy gifts and bequests in 2014, and we always appreciate when our members and friends include us in their legacy planning.

MCE is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and all contributions are tax deductible according to IRS regulations.
